Ronaldinho arrives in Kolkata for Durga Puja Pandal inauguration, set to meet Mamata Bannerjee

Brazilian legend Ronaldinho has arrived in Kolkata on Sunday for a two-day visit in the city.

The former Barcelona player has come to the City of Joy for the Bengali festival Durga Puja and he will inaugurate some of the Puja programmes in Kolkata.

The Samba star landed at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Airport in Kolkata on Sunday and was welcomed by many fans outside the airport. He is going to spend his time by inaugurating a few Puja Mandaps, and will also take part in a football match.

"Hello Everybody, I will be doing my maiden trip to Kolkata this mid-October and will participate in many charitable activities including visiting my R10 Football academy where I will interact with kids at Merlin Rise," Ronaldinho wrote in a Facebook post recently.

"Will also see the many cultural aspects and be part of the Durga Puja Festivities by visiting Shree Bhumi Sporting, Ahirtola Yuvak Brindo, Baruipur, Green Park & Rishra. More ever, I will also be part of a Charity football match and also grace Diamond Harbour Fc ground," Ronaldinho added.

The Samba King will take part in a Charity Football match between Diamond Harbour FC and Shreebhumi Sporting Club in Bata, a place just outskirts of Kolkata.

He is also set to meet West Bengal CM Mamata Bannerjee, who herself is a football enthusiast and recently struck a deal with La Liga in Spain for the development of football in Bengal.

This is Ronaldinho's first visit to Kolkata, thus adding his name to the famous lists of football stalwarts who have left their footprints at the football crazy city on the bank of Ganges.
