Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to miss upcoming matches for Al-Nassr after a hamstring injury proved worse than first believed. The setback hits the Saudi Pro League leaders as they prepare for this weekend's game against Neom.

Before the setback, Ronaldo had maintained strong scoring form in the Saudi Pro League. The forward scored 21 goals in 22 games, closely matching an expected goals figure of 20.9.

Earlier in the week, Al-Nassr confirmed Ronaldo had a hamstring problem but gave no recovery schedule for the 41-year-old, leaving Jorge Jesus to offer the main update during pre-match media duties before facing Neom.

"Cristiano's injury is more serious than we thought, said Jesus. He will now travel to Spain, like other players who went for treatment when they were injured. His injury required treatment in Madrid with his personal therapist, and we hope he returns quickly and helps the team."

Ronaldo's next league outing will be his 100th appearance in Saudi's top flight. That milestone is on hold until medical staff clear Ronaldo to return. Al-Nassr remain first before Friday's fixtures and must replace output from a 17.3% shot conversion rate this season, compared with 16.8% last season, and 52.2% of attempts on target.
