Wayne Rooney believes Harry Kane will keep playing at full intensity for Bayern Munich and England, despite the World Cup approaching. Rooney, whose national record Kane broke, argues that Kane’s form and fitness could be central to England’s chances at the tournament.
Rooney stressed how vital Kane will be for the national side. "I think such an important aspect for England is having Harry Kane fit, and if he is, then he'll be a major reason why we do win it if we do," Rooney told the Press Association.

Kane enters the World Cup build-up after a prolific campaign with Bayern Munich. Since last summer’s Club World Cup, Kane has scored 48 goals in all competitions. The 32-year-old has more goals than any player for a team in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
Internationally, Kane also stays productive. Kane has scored 10 goals across his last 10 England appearances. Kane could score 2+ goals in consecutive internationals for the first time since November 2021, when Kane struck three against Albania and four against San Marino during World Cup qualifying that year.
Rooney warned about the danger of easing off before a major event. "But if you go into any game and you're not fully committed to that game because you're thinking of something else, then you potentially could get injured. Any player will tell you that you're playing for your club, and when you're playing for your club, that's all that matters until that season is over, then you go away with England, then England takes over."
Rooney expects Kane to stay focused on Bayern Munich’s campaign. "I don't think he'll be slowing down. Hopefully, Bayern Munich have the league won quite early, and [head coach] Vincent Kompany gives him a little bit of help." Kane has 31 Bundesliga goals this season, leaving Kane 10 short of Robert Lewandowski’s single-season league record for Bayern.
