In the 43rd match of the Euro 2024, former champion Netherlands will face the challenge of Romania at Munich Football Arena (Allianz Arena) in Munich, Germany on Tuesday (6 pm July 2).

Romania surprisingly has clinched the top spot in Group E from a very unique situation. It is the first time in the history of the Euro, that all four teams have secured the same number of points and Romania won the group surpassing teams like Belgium, Ukraine and Slovakia.

The Netherlands on the other hand, won only one match against Poland. Though they drew against the group favourite France, they lost to Austria by 3-2.

It was in 2000 when the Tricolours played their last knock-out match in Euro and lost 2-0 to Italy. Whereas the Netherlands had to return from the same stage in the last Euro after losing 2-0 against the Czech Republic.

In their past clashes, the Oranje had been the dominant force and remained undefeated except one. The only victory for the Tricolours was back in 2007. The last four clashes between them were also favourable to the Dutch. In the last match between these two teams, the Netherlands became victorious defeating Romania 3-0 in an international friendly.

Both of them were inconsistent in their group matches and won only one match each, but it was commendable for the Tricolorii while the Oranjes are being condemned for the same due to their lacklustre displays.
