Ruben Amorim Discusses Impact Of Dan Ashworth's Departure From Manchester United

Ruben Amorim acknowledges the challenges posed by Dan Ashworth's unexpected departure from Manchester United but reassures that the club's vision remains intact.

Manchester United's head coach, Ruben Amorim, has addressed the unexpected departure of sporting director Dan Ashworth. Despite Ashworth's exit after only 159 days, Amorim insists the club's future plans remain intact. "The first thing I want to say is that, since the first day, I felt great support from the ownership," said Amorim, who took charge on November 11. "From Omar [Berrada, chief executive], from Dan also, from Jason [Wilcox, technical director]. Dan was part of that, and I really felt support from Dan also. But this is football and sometimes these things happen. It happens with players, with coaches. I know that it's not the best situation but the important thing is we continue in our way. The path is really clear for everybody and I think this can happen in football."

Amorim has been at Old Trafford for just a month, securing two wins and a draw in five matches across all competitions. During a press conference, he was questioned about whether he perceived more instability at the club compared to when he arrived. He responded confidently: "I don't think so," he said. "I've felt since day one the support from everybody, so one person leaving doesn't change anything. Of course, it's a bad situation because we are talking about a human being, a professional that supports us as a team. But I think the most important thing is that your vision is really clear and that vision doesn't change if only one person leaves."

Amorim Comments on Ashworth's Exit

Since Amorim's appointment on November 11, Manchester United has undergone significant changes in their lineup strategy. The team has made the second-most lineup changes in the Premier League and is among three teams to utilise all permitted substitutions regularly. This approach has been necessary amid ongoing changes within the club.

Despite Ashworth's sudden exit being less than ideal for Manchester United's management structure, Amorim remains optimistic about maintaining stability within the team. His focus continues to be on ensuring clarity in their strategic direction as they navigate through these changes.

Amorim emphasises that while losing a key figure like Ashworth poses challenges, it does not alter their overarching goals or diminish his confidence in the team's potential moving forward. Maintaining consistency and clarity in their objectives remains paramount for Manchester United under Amorim's leadership.

The departure of Dan Ashworth may have raised questions about internal stability at Manchester United; however, Ruben Amorim remains steadfast in his belief that such changes are part of football dynamics. His commitment to steering the club towards its envisioned future remains unwavering despite recent developments within its management ranks.
