Ruben Amorim Outlines His Vision For Manchester United: 'I Will Do My Thing, My Way'

New Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim emphasises his unique approach to management. He aims to focus on his methods rather than previous coaches' shortcomings as he prepares for his first match against Ipswich Town.

Ruben Amorim is set to lead Manchester United with his own approach, not dwelling on past managers' mistakes. The 39-year-old will debut as head coach against Ipswich Town on Sunday, succeeding interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy. Amorim was appointed at Old Trafford in early November following Erik ten Hag's dismissal due to poor results.

Amorim emphasised his commitment to his unique style, stating, "I will not try to find out the right thing to do or try to find out what was missing with Erik ten Hag, with Jose Mourinho, with Louis van Gaal." He believes focusing on past errors is futile and intends to identify what is lacking from his perspective of football.

Amorim's Vision for Manchester United Success

Under Erik ten Hag, Manchester United secured two trophies but struggled for consistency across competitions, finishing eighth in the Premier League. Since Alex Ferguson's departure, the club has faced ongoing challenges and hasn't clinched a league title since 2013. Despite this history, Amorim remains optimistic about achieving success.

Reflecting on his new role, Amorim acknowledged the vastness of Manchester United compared to his previous experience at Sporting CP. "The first impression is that it's so big, with a lot of departments," he noted. He recognises that being a coach at United involves more than just managing the team.

Amorim boasts an impressive record from his time at Sporting CP, where he won two league titles and managed 231 matches—the most in the club's history. His teams achieved a remarkable 71% win rate and scored an average of 2.2 goals per game. These achievements highlight his capability as a manager.

After Russ van Nistelrooy's successful interim period at Old Trafford, Amorim officially took charge on November 11. He understands fans' mixed emotions given past disappointments but remains confident in his vision for the team.

Amorim's Vision for Success

"We will have really hard moments but, in the end, I truly believe that we are going to succeed," Amorim expressed confidently. He acknowledges that fans may feel apprehensive due to previous setbacks but assures them of his excitement and readiness for the challenge ahead.

Amorim conveyed understanding of fans' cautious optimism: "I know that at this moment our fans are with mixed feelings - 'I want to be excited, but I have been here so I'm a little bit afraid.'" He stressed that while he's happy and confident in his plans, patience will be necessary as improvements unfold over time.

The journey under Ruben Amorim promises challenges and growth as he aims to restore Manchester United's glory with determination and strategic insight.
