Ruben Amorim has expressed his willingness to leave Manchester United without any compensation if both the board and fans believe he is not suitable for the role. Despite this, he has no intention of resigning from his position at Old Trafford. The Red Devils' disappointing season reached a new low after a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final at San Mames.
The loss was sealed by Brennan Johnson's goal just before halftime, marking another setback in a trophyless campaign for United. This result also means they will miss out on European football next season. Currently sitting 16th in the Premier League with one game remaining, United can only finish as high as 14th, trailing the Champions League spots by 27 points.

Amorim, who joined United in November, remains committed to improving the team's fortunes. He stated that if the club's management decides he is not the right person for the job, he would leave without negotiating a severance package. "We have to see, in this moment, I am not going to be here defending myself," Amorim said during his post-match press conference.
He added, "I have nothing to show to the fans, and we say we are going to improve because of this. At this moment, it's a little bit of faith." Despite their struggles, Amorim is confident in his approach and does not plan to change his methods.
This season marks United's 20th defeat across all competitions, their highest since losing 22 matches in the 1973-74 season when they were relegated from the top flight. Historically successful in major European finals between 1968 and 2008, they have now finished runners-up in four of their last five finals.
In their recent match against Tottenham, United had more attempts on goal with 16 shots compared to Spurs' three. However, their expected goals (xG) was lower at 0.9 compared to Tottenham's 1.0. Amorim acknowledged their performance wasn't perfect but felt they were better than their opponents in the second half.
The defeat also means missing out on Champions League qualification next season. When asked about its impact on transfer plans, Amorim mentioned having two strategies for the market. He acknowledged it is challenging for a club like United not being in the Champions League but emphasized using available time wisely for better Premier League performance.
"We tried everything," Amorim said honestly about their efforts during games. He expects honesty from others too and noted that while some days were poor performances, this particular day wasn't one of them.
