Ryan Giggs delivers verdict on Alexis Sanchez's life at Manchester United

London, March 1: Former Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has jumped in support for his old side's later addition in the Winter window, Alexis Sanchez after the player struggled to make an immediate impact.

Sanchez joined United in a swap deal with Mkhitaryan who moved to Emirates in the last window. The move to United now reportedly has made the attacker the highest paid player in the league.

However, United’s new number seven has endured a mixed time since arriving at Old Trafford and has scored just one goal in seven appearances, that too from a rebound from his own missed a penalty in a 2-0 win over Huddersfield.

Some latest report also claimed that seeing Sanchez's impact, some United executives have privately expressed their regret at signing Sanchez and making him the highest-paid player in the Premier League.

However, Giggs, current Wales manager and United’s most decorated player in history has dismissed all such claims and insisted fans shouldn't worry about Sanchez because once he settles into Jose Mourinho’s system he will surely dazzle again.

“He’s a top player, he’s scored one goal so far so I’m sure he’d want to do better than that,” Giggs said.

“I think his team-mates are still trying to find out what he likes, what he doesn’t like, you know the dynamics of the team.

“Sometimes players fit straight away, sometimes it takes a bit of time. I don’t think anyone should be worried about Alexis Sanchez, he’s a top, top player.”

United since December last year have endured a difficult time recently and in the last few games against Newcastle United, Sevilla failed to match up the expectation as they lost in the League and only salvaged a 0-0 draw at Spain.

However, Jose Mourinho's men came back in style winning ways last week when they defeated their manager's former club Chelsea 2-1 in the weekend which now have put them in the second place.

And according to Giggs, that vital win now has all-but guaranteed their top-four finish for this season.

“More or less that secured that top four place,” the Wales manager Giggs said of the victory. “But it changes all the time, you know, they’ve got Liverpool in a couple of weeks, that’s again, a big game.

“But they’re looking good. I think if they secure top four, if they have a good run in the Champions League and win the FA Cup, it’s a good season. It’s a step forward again from last year.

“I think everyone accepts how difficult it is with [Manchester] City performing so well this year.

“Obviously every United fan will be hoping that we challenge for the league a little better than this year.”

United will visit struggling Crystal Palace next to the Premier League this week before hosting arch-rivals Liverpool in the following week.
