Gareth Bale is happy at Real Madrid and wants to stay in spite of Man United rumours: Giggs

Madrid, Feb 1: Former Manchester United legend and newly recruited Wales coach Ryan Giggs has issued a blow to his former club as he insisted Madrid star attacker Gareth Bale is happy being at Bernabeu and is not going to leave for Manchester United.

The 27-year-old faced a frustrating season last season after suffering numerous injuries throughout the campaign and often found himself behind Isco, Vazquez and Asensio in the pecking order under Zidane.

The player this season also has been facing the same issue as he only played 10 matches in the league for Los Blancos.

Thus it was rumoured that the club management was not happy with the attacker's consistent injury woes and the Wales player could be offered a chance to seal a move away from the Club to which the Old Trafford side ready to jump on.

The star attacker who last October signed a new contract until 2022 also added fuel to that fire as Bale told that he could leave the Spanish capital one day only to return to the Premier League - his 'home'.

But the new Wales boss, Giggs now has dismissed the rumours and claimed that the 28-year-old is pretty happy at Bernabeu and hopes to stay despite speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

"He's happy at Real Madrid, he wants to stay, there's no doubt,” he told Spanish newspaper Marca.

“He knows that the coach and the club respect him and he wants to show the fans what he is capable of," he said.

Also when Giggs was specifically asked whether his former club had any interest in Bale, Giggs looked opposing and stated: "I don't know, but Bale has no intention of leaving and Real Madrid won't sell the player.

“It's clear that United would've been very good for him, but I don't think that's an option at the moment, he's not going to leave Real Madrid."

Since joining from Spurs in 2013-14 season Bale has appeared over 169 matches for them and has scored 76 goals with 58 assists, winning three Champions league and one La Liga title.
