Arrigo Sacchi Urges AC Milan To Consider Carlo Ancelotti For Future Coaching Position

Arrigo Sacchi has advised AC Milan and Roma to reach out to Carlo Ancelotti if he departs Real Madrid. Following a disappointing Champions League exit, Ancelotti's future is uncertain, prompting speculation about his next move.

Arrigo Sacchi has suggested that AC Milan and Roma should consider reaching out to Carlo Ancelotti if he departs from Real Madrid. Madrid's recent exit from the Champions League, following a 5-1 aggregate loss to Arsenal in the quarter-finals, has sparked speculation about Ancelotti's future. Reports indicate he might be dismissed after the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on April 26.

Currently, Real Madrid trails Barcelona by seven points in LaLiga, with a game in hand against Athletic Bilbao scheduled for Sunday. Meanwhile, Sergio Conceicao was appointed at Milan to turn around their fortunes after Paulo Fonseca's dismissal in December. Despite winning the Supercoppa Italiana in January, Milan has struggled with consistency.

Sacchi Encourages AC Milan to Contact Ancelotti

Milan is set to face Atalanta, who are third in Serie A, on Sunday as they aim to close the gap on the top four. After an unbeaten run of five games (four wins and one draw), Milan has lost two of their last three Serie A matches (one draw) against La Dea. They currently sit ninth in Serie A, eight points behind fourth-placed Juventus, with six games left and their Champions League qualification hopes uncertain.

Sacchi, who had two managerial stints at Milan, believes it would be beneficial for his former club and Roma to approach Ancelotti. "I don't know what Carletto wants to do," Sacchi told Gazzetta. "Apparently, the Brazilian federation has been after him for a while now, and surely the chance to coach the Selecao at the World Cup is tempting."

Sacchi added that if he were at Milan or Roma, he would contact Ancelotti since it costs nothing to inquire about his interest. "I don't know if the dream will come true. For now, let's just keep dreaming," he remarked. Despite his interest in seeing Ancelotti join Milan, Sacchi advised Real Madrid to reconsider before parting ways with him after this season.

Ancelotti returned to Santiago Bernabeu in 2021 and has since secured 11 trophies with Madrid. His achievements include two Champions League titles, two LaLiga titles, the Copa del Rey, and the Club World Cup. Sacchi expressed disappointment over criticisms directed at Ancelotti due to Madrid's Champions League exit.

"What makes me sad," Sacchi said, "even if this is part of football, is that everyone is criticising Carletto because of a Champions League exit and blaming him for the elimination." He questioned whether people truly understand who Ancelotti is or appreciate his accomplishments.

Madrid's Decision on Ancelotti

Sacchi emphasized that Real Madrid should carefully consider their decision regarding Ancelotti's future. "Do these people have any idea who Ancelotti is? Do they know what he has won?" Sacchi asked rhetorically. He praised Ancelotti as a master of football not only for his trophies but also for his human qualities.

Sacchi concluded by advising Real Madrid to think multiple times before letting go of someone like Carletto due to his significant contributions both on and off the field.
