The Indian U-16 side emerged victorious at the SAFF U-16 Championship 2023 with a comprehensive victory over Bangladesh at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimpu. In a thrilling final, the team beat Bangladesh 2-0 to secure their victory.

Bharat Lairenjam gave India the with a goal in the first half, with Levis Zangminlun reinforcing the win with a second-half strike, locking in India's dominant victory.

Euphoria swept the young Indian team as referee Hussain Zaheer blew the match-ending whistle. There were joyous scenes of celebrations, with teammates wrapping each other in hearty hugs, their radiant faces reflecting the pride of a mission successfully accomplished.

Under the expert guidance of the head coach, Ishfaq Ahmed, the Blue Colts dazzled everyone throughout the tournament with their impressive attacking play, leaving their competitors struggling.

The team claimed the top spot in Group A by edging past both Bangladesh and Nepal with 1-0 wins. Their semi-final face-off with the Maldives was a showstopper, resulting in an astounding 8-0 victory. Extraordinarily, the team achieved this feat without letting in a single goal.

In the championship decider against Bangladesh, the Indian side played strategically, demonstrating control and skill. Their efficient playmaking and smart space utilization effectively handled Bangladesh's physical style of play.
