Nuri Sahin Seeks Champions League Victory To Overcome Borussia Dortmund's Bundesliga Struggles

Under pressure, Borussia Dortmund's Nuri Sahin looks to turn around his team's fortunes in the Champions League after a disappointing Bundesliga start. With optimism high, he aims for a win against Bologna to boost confidence and standings.

Borussia Dortmund's manager, Nuri Sahin, remains hopeful as his team prepares for a Champions League match against Bologna. Despite their recent struggles in the Bundesliga, Sahin is optimistic. Dortmund suffered a 2-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday, marking their third straight defeat in Germany's top league. Currently, they are 10th with 25 points, trailing seven points behind the top four and 20 points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

In contrast to their domestic performance, Dortmund has shown promise in Europe this season. They aim to make up for last year's loss to Real Madrid in the final at Wembley. With 12 points from six matches, they are ninth in the standings, just one point away from automatic qualification for the knockout stages. In their last 16 Champions League group stage games, they've only lost three times, although one of those defeats was a recent 3-2 loss to Barcelona.

Sahin Aims for Champions League Success

Sahin is eager for Tuesday's match at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara against Bologna. He hopes this game will boost his team's confidence against the Serie A club. "You can't compare the Champions League with the Bundesliga; the stars are better aligned here," Sahin stated. "And hopefully tomorrow with a win we can take a big step towards the round of 16."

Addressing reporters on Monday about their losing streak, Sahin expressed no personal pressure despite its impact on him and his players. "Of course, it affects each individual, but I don't feel any pressure at all. We all have to deliver," he said confidently. He believes a strong performance in Europe could also help them regain momentum in the Bundesliga.

Despite mounting criticism of his team’s performance, Sahin stands by his players and takes responsibility for improving their form early this year. "I've never felt let down," he remarked about his squad. "I'm the coach; I have to lead the way." He emphasized that everyone knows more effort is needed and expressed confidence in what they can achieve.

Sahin remains focused on guiding his team through these challenges while maintaining belief in their abilities and potential for success both domestically and internationally.
