Saint-Etienne's defender Leo Petrot expressed his disappointment after their 8-0 loss to Nice in Ligue 1. This defeat highlighted ongoing challenges for the team. An own goal by Dylan Batubinsika in the fourth minute set a negative tone for Olivier Dall'Oglio's squad. Youssoufa Moukoko's two goals, along with strikes from Tanguy Ndombele, Mohamed-Ali Cho, and Evann Guessand, gave Nice a strong lead by halftime.
After the break, Nice extended their advantage with Sofiane Diop scoring, and Pablo Rosario sealed the win with a penalty four minutes before the end. This was the third time Saint-Etienne conceded eight goals in a Ligue 1 match, following similar losses to Lille in 1946 and Bordeaux in 1951. The team has now let in 15 goals in just five league games this season, marking their worst defensive record at this point in a top-flight campaign.

Petrot did not hold back his criticism of the team's performance. "There's no analysis. It's a disgrace what we did," he told DAZN after the match. "We should be ashamed of ourselves, for our supporters and for all the work we put in," he added. Petrot emphasized that conceding eight goals and lacking mental strength was unacceptable.
Despite the heavy defeat, Petrot remained focused on moving forward. He stated that Saint-Etienne would aim to quickly recover from this setback as they prepare to face Nantes next week. "We've got 10 days to work really hard. We'll be looking ahead to the next game very quickly," Petrot concluded.
