Mohamed Salah's recent remarks about his future at Liverpool have sparked speculation. Former Real Madrid player Gareth Bale suggested that Salah might be using these comments to negotiate a better contract. This discussion arose just days before Liverpool's match against Madrid, where Salah had hinted at uncertainty over his stay due to his expiring contract. Despite the controversy, Bale believes Salah will remain with Liverpool.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher criticised Salah's statements, while Bale expressed confidence that the situation would be resolved internally. "We never brought those things into conversation; it's always about training or general life," Bale mentioned before Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Madrid at Anfield. He added, "I can't imagine that's going to affect anyone; it's going to be sorted out upstairs with his agent."

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand defended Salah, stating that he hadn't done anything wrong by being honest. Ferdinand said, "The big thing is he hasn't been out of order." He emphasised that Salah has not been disrespectful and has merely stated facts. Ferdinand reassured fans by saying, "As team-mates, that's all you care about. Is he still with us?"
Salah continues to perform well on the field, scoring consistently for Liverpool. However, during the match against Madrid, he missed a second-half penalty when Liverpool was leading 1-0 after Alexis Mac Allister scored first. It was only the second time Salah failed to convert a penalty in seven attempts during this competition.
Kylian Mbappe also missed a penalty for Madrid earlier in the game. Caoimhin Kelleher saved Mbappe's attempt, keeping Liverpool in the lead until Cody Gakpo secured victory with a late header. This win ensured Liverpool advanced in the Champions League, securing at least a play-off spot as they top their group with 15 points.
Salah's desire to stay at Liverpool seems genuine despite his contract negotiations. His consistent goal-scoring and commitment suggest he wants to continue contributing to the team's success while seeking improved terms for his future at Anfield.
