Mohamed Salah Shows Exceptional Quality With Two Goals In Liverpool's Victory Over Bournemouth

Mohamed Salah scored both goals in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Bournemouth, showcasing his quality and extending the team's unbeaten streak to 19 matches.

Arne Slot praised Mohamed Salah's performance after he scored both goals in Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Bournemouth. This win extended Liverpool's lead at the top of the Premier League by nine points. Salah's goals, one from a penalty and another a brilliant shot, secured Liverpool's third consecutive league win.

Salah has now scored 11 times against Bournemouth in the Premier League, making them the seventh team he's netted double figures against. Only Alan Shearer has achieved this feat against more teams, with 12. Salah also reached 20 or more Premier League goals in a season for the fifth time.

Salah Scores Twice in Liverpool's Win

Liverpool's unbeaten run in the league now stands at 19 games, with 14 wins and five draws. They have not lost any of their last 14 away matches, winning nine and drawing five. Despite this impressive form, Slot acknowledged that Bournemouth made them work hard for their victory at Vitality Stadium.

"Maybe that second goal was the difference between the two teams," Slot told Sky Sports. "It was not an easy chance, and he puts it in the net, but it shows you how much quality he has."

Bournemouth saw their 11-match unbeaten streak end with this defeat. They missed a chance to move into the top four due to Newcastle United losing to Fulham and Chelsea and Manchester City playing later in the weekend. The Cherries have only lost twice by two or more goals this season, both times to Liverpool.

Despite hitting the woodwork 16 times this season, more than any other team, Bournemouth couldn't capitalise on their chances. Antoine Semenyo and Marcus Tavernier hit the post, David Brooks had a goal disallowed for offside, and Justin Kluivert missed an open goal.

Challenges Ahead

Andoni Iraola expressed his disappointment after the game: "It is disappointing when you lose a game," he told Sky Sports. "Small things didn't go for us." He noted that key moments could have changed the outcome if they had managed to score.

Iraola highlighted that they need to seize opportunities against strong teams like Liverpool. He added that they have a week to prepare for their FA Cup match against Everton, acknowledging it as a challenging draw given Everton's recent form.

The match showcased Liverpool’s resilience and Salah’s exceptional talent while highlighting areas where Bournemouth fell short despite their efforts. As both teams look ahead to upcoming fixtures, they will aim to build on their performances in different ways.
