Margao, Feb 13 (PTI) Yusuf Yakubu scored a brace asSalgaocar demolished Viva Kerala 4-0 to move into the top ofthe points table in their 14th round I-League match at theNehru stadium here today.

Salgaocar, who beat Viva Kerala 3-0 in the first leg, led2-0 at half time scored through a brace from Man of the MatchYakubu (34th, 67th) and a goal each from Ryuji Sueoka (39th)and substitute Ekene M Ikenwa (injury time).

The win takes Salgaocar''s tally to 31 points from 14matches the same as East Bengal, but their impressive win putthem at the top of the table as they now have better goaldifference of 16, against East Bengal''s 15.

Earlier, both the teams started on a promising note andshared honours equally in the initial stages.

Salgaocar, who held better ball possession, build theirmoves with short passes, with Ryuji Sueoka keeping the rivaldefense on tenterhooks with his constant running.

The hosts kept on the pressure and after coming close toscoring on few occasions finally tasted success in the 34thminute.

Sueoka floated the ball from the left off a flag kick,which keeper Shahinlal Meloly failed to avert and as he cameout to thwart the ball, an unmarked Yakubu slotted the ballinto the net from close.
