Sam Kerr Rejoins Liverpool On Permanent Deal After Successful Loan Spell

Sam Kerr has signed a permanent deal with Liverpool FC after a productive loan period. The Scotland international made significant contributions during her time at the club, including one goal and an assist in the Women's Super League.

Sam Kerr has rejoined Liverpool on a permanent basis after her loan spell in the latter half of the 2024-25 season. The Scotland international was acquired from Bayern Munich for an undisclosed fee, with Liverpool not disclosing the contract's duration. During her loan, Kerr played 11 matches in the Women's Super League, providing one assist.

Kerr made a notable contribution by scoring a goal in Liverpool's 5-0 FA Cup win against West Ham shortly after joining. Her return to the club has been met with enthusiasm. "Back like she never left," tweeted Liverpool FC Women, highlighting her seamless reintegration into the team.

Kerr Returns to Liverpool Permanently

Kerr expressed her excitement about staying longer at Liverpool. She shared on the club's website, "I'm so excited to get started, and I've enjoyed my spell here, so I just wanted to make it a little bit longer now." She added that she felt at home soon after arriving and was eager to remain when given the chance.

Liverpool's New Goalkeeper Signing

In addition to Kerr's signing, Liverpool announced they have secured goalkeeper Rafaela Borggrafe. The 25-year-old joined after her contract with Freiburg ended. Borggrafe spent over ten years at the Bundesliga club and last season achieved seven clean sheets in 19 games, conceding only 26 goals as Freiburg secured fifth place.

Kerr's decision to stay was straightforward once Liverpool showed interest. She stated, "I think I knew after a couple of months that I was here that I was really loving it, and if I had the opportunity to stay, it's something that I'd love to do." Her commitment reflects her positive experience with the team and desire for continuity.

The addition of Borggrafe strengthens Liverpool’s squad further. Her experience and performance at Freiburg demonstrate her capability as a reliable goalkeeper. With these strategic signings, Liverpool aims to bolster their squad for upcoming challenges in women's football competitions.
