Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace left Jadon Sancho feeling frustrated, as he believed the team should have secured a win earlier. Cole Palmer scored for Chelsea after 14 minutes with an assist from Sancho, but Jean-Philippe Mateta equalised eight minutes before the end at Selhurst Park. The Blues missed several chances to extend their lead, marking their fourth consecutive Premier League game without a victory.
Sancho expressed his disappointment, stating, "I thought we played quite well and controlled a lot of the game, so it was very frustrating to concede late on." He emphasised the need to finish games strongly in the second half. Sancho believed that scoring a second goal would have allowed Chelsea to relax and exploit more spaces as Palace pushed forward. Unfortunately, despite creating numerous opportunities, they failed to capitalise on them.

Reflecting on his assist for Palmer's goal, Sancho explained how he manoeuvred past the defender to set up the chance. "I came inside the pitch to receive the ball and I let it run through my legs. The defender was right behind me and hasn't read the ball going behind him so I ran to reach it and found Cole in the middle. Then he does what he does," he said.
Palmer's goal was Chelsea's only shot on target out of 15 attempts during the match. This marked their lowest number of shots on target in a scoring game since October 2021. Manager Enzo Maresca acknowledged this issue but remained optimistic about their ability to score in future matches as long as they continue creating chances.
Maresca stated, "The important thing is to create chances because that means we are doing the right things, but then you need to take those chances." He highlighted their focus on improving intensity during training sessions while recognising Chelsea's current strength in goal-scoring.
Maresca praised Josh Acheampong for his impressive Premier League debut performance, describing him as Chelsea's standout player. "All the players, for me, were good but if I had to decide for one, Josh was the best player. He can be a top player for this club," Maresca noted.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner felt his team deserved the draw despite initial struggles against Chelsea's dominance in the first half. "At the end it was a deserved point, but we struggled in the first 30 minutes," Glasner commented. Palace managed to avoid defeat against Chelsea both home and away in a single league campaign for the first time since 1991-92.
The draw left Crystal Palace six points clear of relegation danger after losing only two of their last 12 league matches. Meanwhile, Chelsea missed an opportunity to climb into third place and currently sit fourth in the standings.
