Satyam Inter-Collegiate Football to kick off in city

Hyderabad, Nov 10 (UNI) Satyam Campus Football Challenge, a first-of-its-kind inter-collegiate National Football tournament, reaching out to as many as 4,000 colleges across India is all set to kick off here after its success in other states.

Satyam Computer Services Ltd, a leading Global Consulting and Information Technology Services Provider, is the official IT Services Provider to the FIFA World Cups in 2010 at Johannesburg and in 2014 at Brazil. Satyam is providing end-to-end IT services to make the events a success, and is the first Indian company to be part of the global football family.

Satyam is sponsoring the Inter collegiate football tournament to be conducted by Osmania University and JNTU for all its affiliated colleges.

The preliminary matches for Osmania would start tomorrow at Nizam College Football Ground, Hyderabad and the winning team from the university will take part in the State level Championships.

The All India tournament started its journey in August this year from Kolkata University in West Bengal. The other states that have witnessed the preliminary matches were Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Punjab, covering over 30 universities under them.

Sridhar Maturi, Head of Sports Marketing, Satyam Computers Services said the tournament reflects the organisation's commitment to promote sport in the country. They would also organise 'Satyam Football Challenge' for another ten years, Dr Sridhar added.

This would provide competitive atmosphere to nurture talent and enhance passion for football within India. Satyam would extend its support to the school-level from next year, which will ensure that the younger generation was provided with a platform to showcase their talent.
