The brand new season of the Saudi Pro League is set to start from Thursday (August 22). The top-flight football of Saudi Arabia promises to bring lot more thrills as some top Asian clubs will fight out for the domestic glory.
Last season, Al Hilal won the league at a canter but the likes of Al Nassr, Al Ahli and Al Ittihad are in the mix for the title challenge this time around. The league, which comprises of 18 teams, is played in a round-robin system and the team with the most points will be crowned Champions next May.

The Saudi league will start from August 22 and will continue till May, 2025. Each team will play a total of 34 matches.
Al Qadsiah is the team which secured their promotion at first, and then Al Kholood and Al Orobah were promoted to the Saudi Pro League. Al-Kholood earned their spot by defeating Al-Safa 5-1. This will be their debut in the top tier of Saudi football, becoming the 38th team to compete in the league since its inception. On the other hand, Al Orobah return to the top-flight after nine seasons.
Al Hazem was the first team relegated after a heavy 4-1 home loss to Al-Hilal on 11 May 2024. Their stint in the top flight lasted just one year, marking their third relegation in five years. Abha and Al Taee were also relegated on the final day of last season.

A few of the top European managers are set to take part in the Saudi League this season. They are-
Steven Gerrard for Al Ettifaq, Jorge Jesus for Al Hilal, Laurent Blanc at Al Ittihad, Michel at Al Qadsiah.
The Saudi Football Federation has increased the foreign player quota to 10 from this season, out of which 2 need to be aged 21 or younger. A team can play a maximum of eight foreign players in a league match.
