Scottish Premiership Results: Hibs Hold Rangers To Aid Hearts As Celtic Beat Falkirk

Hearts finished the weekend six points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership after Celtic defeated Falkirk 2-0 and Rangers dropped points in a goalless draw at Hibernian, a set of results that tightened the title race picture behind the leaders.

The draw at Easter Road stopped Rangers from closing the gap on Hearts, while Celtic’s home victory moved Martin O’Neill’s side above Danny Rohl’s Rangers on goal difference, leaving both Glasgow clubs still chasing the Edinburgh leaders after another round of league fixtures.

Scottish Premiership: Hibs Hold Rangers

Rangers arrived at Hibernian on the back of six straight league victories since losing to the Jambos, who were resounding 3-0 winners at Dundee United on Saturday back in December, but Rohl’s team produced a flat attacking display as Hibs limited clear openings and helped Hearts.

Mikey Moore thought Rangers had made the breakthrough after the interval, yet a VAR review ruled the effort out, and the better chances actually fell to Hibs, with Martin Boyle denied in a one-on-one by Jack Butland and Elie Youan heading wide from close range.

At Parkhead, Celtic recorded what looked a routine success, with Tomas Cvancara glancing in a header on the forward’s home debut six minutes before half-time and Benjamin Nygren curling in a second just after the hour, before Sebastian Tounekti had a late strike cancelled for offside against Daizen Maeda.

Data Debrief: Rangers rearguard impresses again in blunt display. Despite frustration with the draw, Rangers extended their Premiership shutout run to 473 minutes, keeping four straight clean sheets for the first time since a six-game sequence between December 1 and December 26, 2021, underlining a strong defensive structure.

Team / Player Statistic Value
Rangers Minutes without conceding 473
Rangers Consecutive league clean sheets 4
Celtic - Benjamin Nygren Consecutive league games scored in 4
Hearts League matches with at least one goal 22
Celtic League matches with at least one goal 20

Nygren’s goal extended the forward’s personal scoring streak to four league games, while only Hearts, with goals in 22 Premiership matches, have struck in more fixtures this season than Celtic’s 20, leaving Hearts, Celtic and Rangers all strongly placed heading into the next phase.
