Sergio Ramos awards Shakira with Latin Grammy for diss track on ex-partner Gerard Pique

Former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has presented the Latin Grammy award's 'Best Song of the Year' to Shakira in a function on Friday.

But the significant factor is that Shakira got the award for a diss track on her ex-partner Gerard Pique, who incidentally plays for Barcelona, the rival team of Ramos' former club Real Madrid.

In June 2022, Shakira and her former partner Gerard Pique announced a split after an 11-year-long relationship. The celebrity couple decided to end their relationship with a statement.

"We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our top priority, we ask for respect for our privacy. Thank you for your understanding," a joint statement said.

After their split, Shakira opened up about her relationship with Pique and said it was one of the darkest periods of her life. A few later and Shakira got the melody of the year and pop tune of the year for Shakira: Bzrp Music Meetings, Vol. 53, which are diss tracks on Gerard Pique.

Her collab on TQG with Karol G additionally won the best metropolitan and combination execution at the current week's Latin Grammys, however, it was unique visitor Sergio Ramos that got individuals talking on social media.

The former Real Madrid defender then handed over the award to the ex-partner of his Spanish teammate and club rival.

Speaking to Billboard in September, the Colombian singer was asked about the controversy surrounding Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53, and if it was the right thing to open up about her relationship with Pique.

"When I did that session, people on my team were saying, 'Please change this. Don't even think about coming out with those lyrics.' And I said, 'Why not?' I'm not a diplomat in the United Nations. I'm an artist, and I have the right to work on my emotions through my music," Shakira replied.
