Arne Slot praised Liverpool's performance as they defeated Ipswich Town 4-1 in the Premier League at Anfield. This victory extended their unbeaten home run to nine games under Slot, with Nottingham Forest being the only team to have won there since his arrival. Liverpool have accumulated more points and wins at home than any other team this season, marking their first instance of scoring four or more goals in a league match at Anfield.
Despite Ipswich's initial strategy to disrupt Liverpool, Dominik Szoboszlai scored the opening goal within 11 minutes. Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo added two more before halftime, dismantling Ipswich's defence. Gakpo scored again after the break, while Jacob Greaves netted a late consolation for Ipswich. Slot commended his team's efficiency in securing victory before halftime.

"Today is the way you want to start a game, we were aggressive and dominant. For 85 minutes, they weren't in our half. We were all disappointed to concede from a corner for the first time this season," Slot told BBC Sport. He highlighted their ability to prevent chances and counterattacks against a low-block team like Ipswich.
Slot emphasised the importance of goals from various positions, noting Szoboszlai's contribution from midfield. "We get goals from all positions, from across the forward line, but it's also pleasing to see Dom [Szoboszlai] scoring because we need goals from midfield as well," he added.
With Liverpool already through to the UEFA Champions League last 16, Slot plans to rotate his squad for their midweek match against PSV Eindhoven. They will then face Bournemouth next weekend in another league fixture.
Kieran McKenna, Ipswich's manager, remained realistic despite their third consecutive league defeat. He acknowledged Liverpool's clinical nature and admitted his team's defensive shortcomings. "It was another tough game for us, but there was positivity in how we ended it," McKenna stated.
McKenna recognised that survival would depend on results against fellow relegation contenders rather than top teams like Liverpool. "Everyone comes here with a plan, but when they score a first goal like that, it's really difficult," he said. Ipswich will next face Southampton at home in a crucial match as both teams fight relegation.
The upcoming clash with Southampton is critical for Ipswich's survival hopes. The Saints have only managed six points this season, making this encounter at Portman Road potentially decisive for both teams' futures in the league.
