Khadija Shaw Signs A Four-year Contract With Manchester City Women In Surprise U-turn
Khadija Shaw commits to a new four-year deal with Women’s Super League champions Manchester City, reversing expectations of a free transfer exit. The Jamaica international stays with Andree Jeglertz’s side until 2030, after strong links to Chelsea and widespread belief that Shaw would move at contract expiry.
The striker plays a central part in City’s 2025-26 title success, finishing with 21 league goals and ending the club’s decade-long wait for a second WSL crown. Shaw also secures a third straight Golden Boot, underlining status as the division’s most reliable scorer across recent seasons.

Shaw had been grouped with other leading WSL names whose deals were due to run out after 2025-26, including Chelsea forward Sam Kerr and Arsenal attackers Beth Mead and Katie McCabe. Kerr, Mead and McCabe have now departed their clubs, increasing the sense that Shaw would also leave on a free transfer.
Speculation around a switch to Chelsea grew as the season advanced, with reports linking Shaw to a major move. Instead, City confirm the fresh long-term agreement on Monday, ending uncertainty about the future of the league’s top scorer and giving Jeglertz continuity in attack ahead of next season.
Shaw reveals the extension personally at Manchester City’s end-of-season celebrations, addressing supporters during the event. The striker tells the crowd: "I am still here, I am still hungry and there is no place I would rather be." The announcement comes days before City meet Brighton in Sunday’s FA Cup final at Wembley.
Across the 2025-26 WSL campaign, Shaw finishes one short of the single-season record of 22 goals, yet still reaches a major landmark. The forward now has 101 goal involvements in the competition, made up of 83 goals and 18 assists, placing Shaw among the league’s most productive players.
Shaw becomes the sixth footballer to surpass 100 WSL goal involvements, joining Vivianne Miedema, Beth Mead, Bethany England, Nikita Parris and Fran Kirby. Their tallies are shown below for comparison.
{TABLE_1}| Player | WSL goal involvements |
|---|---|
| Vivianne Miedema | 138 |
| Beth Mead | 124 |
| Bethany England | 114 |
| Nikita Parris | 107 |

| Khadija Shaw | 101 |
City’s director of football Therese Sjogran highlights Shaw’s impact on and off the field, stressing value beyond goals. Sjogran says: "We're delighted that Bunny has agreed to another four years at Manchester City. We've had a tremendous 2025-26 campaign, and she's been a key figure in that success. I'm sure if we also get the result we're hoping for in the FA Cup final on Sunday, she'll have played a huge role in that as well. The stats and awards speak for themselves, but theres so much more to Bunny than what she does on the pitch. She has become a real leader in the team and I'm sure she'll be a driving force on our return to Champions League football next season and in our push to retain the WSL title."
The new agreement secures Shaw through 2030, giving Manchester City stability ahead of a return to Champions League football and another WSL defence. With three consecutive Golden Boots, a league title and a possible FA Cup win, Shaw’s decision to stay shapes the competitive landscape of the WSL for seasons ahead.
