Should Liverpool sell Mohamed Salah in the summer?

Reports claim that PSG are set to test the Reds' resolve by launching a bid in the region of 80 million pounds for the Egyptian King.

Bengaluru, February 9: Liverpool could have a major decision to make in the summer with their star forward Mohamed Salah attracting interest from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports claim that PSG are set to test the Reds' resolve by launching a bid in the region of 80 million pounds for the Egyptian King. This could pose a serious dilemma to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

This has so far been a season to forget for Liverpool. The Reds have been uncharacteristically poor this season and look destined to finish the season trophyless.

They are languishing at the tenth position in the Premier League table and are already out of both FA Cup and League Cup.

They are set to face Real Madrid in a double header in the Champions League round of 16 and it would be quite an uphill task for them to win their seventh continental trophy.

While almost every Liverpool player has struggled for form this campaign, Salah's form has also been a cause of concern as well.

Salah has statistically been nowhere as poor as most of his teammates having scored 17 goals and produced seven assists in 31 games across competitions.

However, out of his 17 goals, seven has been in just six Champions League games which means that he has scored just 10 goals in the other 24 games.

It would not be fair to be too harsh on Salah for Liverpool's struggles this campaign but the 30-year-old has not looked the same he used to be.

If we look at his dribbling stats in particular, we can see that the two time PFA Players' Player of the Year has made 1 successful dribble per 90 minutes this campaign while averaging 1.8 unsuccessful dribbles. He has averaged 3.2 shots per 90 minutes this season out of which just 1.4 has been on target.

Aged 30 now, Salah's form this season has been far from spectacular and he could regress further with age. With kind of contract he was offered last summer, offloading a declining player could make sense as it is evident that the Reds need a complete revamp.

And if PSG are willing to make a 80 million pounds offer for Salah, Liverpool would be wise to take the deal and use that on the squad rebuild.
