Liverpool are believed to be considering a move for N'Golo Kante on a free transfer.

The World Cup-winning France international is out of contract at Stamford Bridge this summer and could leave on a free transfer. It has been reported that Liverpool are considering a move for the tenacious midfielder for free this summer.

Kante has been limited to just two first-team appearances for Chelsea this season, having been sidelined earlier this campaign with a hamstring injury. The Frenchman is yet to feature at all under new manager Graham Potter but the Blues are thought to be keen to keep him at the club regardless.

However, chances of his extension looking remote right now with contract talks not progressing well between two parties. Chelsea's heavy investment on new and younger players could see Kante maming a move in the summer. His former midfield partner Jorginho has already left in January for a move to Arsenal while Mateo Kovacic has also been strongly linked with an exit.

Kante has been a crucial player for the Blues since his £32 million move from Leicester City in 2016. Kante has won a total of six trophies during his time at the West London club, including one Premier League and one Champions League. He is also a Premier League winner with Leicester City and won the FIFA World Cup in 2018 with France.

Liverpool have endured a difficult season this time around and most of their issues have been in the middle of the park. It is therefore quite evident that the Reds would be looking to reinforce their midfield ranks this summer. Kante could be a solid addition to Liverpool if he can rediscover his best form prior to his injury problems.

Kante, however, will be 32 by the summer and does not fit Liverpool's usual approach in the transfer market. Also, his recent injury records mean he also comes with huge risks. However, it will be a risk worth taking for Liverpool considering they are desperately in need of quality in the middle of the park and Kante looks tailor-made for Jurgen Klopp's system.
