The legendary former footballer who paid a sudden visit to Mohun Bagan ground on Friday, March 24 said: “I have made one initial design in terms of grass route development of Indian football.

"I will discuss with the other members of the technical committee as well as with the AIFF president and secretary before rescheduling the design."

Thapa revealed he has plans to introduce residential football coaching schools in each state.

He continued: “My wish is to introduce residential schools in India's each state and each school must be under our careful observation.

"We will select the coaches and AIFF administrators will set up the managerial set-up at each school. According to my plan, each school will have two age of groups of boys.

"One is U-14 and the other group will be U-17. The chief national coach in all age group national teams will visit these schools when he will start making a selection of the national probable."

Thapa's appointment as technical committee's chairman had been recently criticised by a few of former footballers.

But Thapa, when raised that issue seemed nonchalant. Rather he cited example saying: “I have a little bit of experience of coaching the senior national team in Nepal.

"I also have experience of working as coach of senior East Bengal team for three years. So, I do not feel I am not competent for this post.

"More importantly, I do not want to get involved in any kind of argument. I want to make grass route and youth development job rolling so that Indian team will get players in future."
