Simone Inzaghi Affirms His Commitment To Inter Milan Before Transitioning To Al-Hilal

Simone Inzaghi expressed his unwavering commitment to Inter Milan before moving to Al-Hilal. Despite speculation regarding his focus during the Champions League final, he highlighted his successful tenure at Inter.

Simone Inzaghi expressed that he fully dedicated himself to Inter Milan before transitioning to Al-Hilal. This statement came after Al-Hilal's CEO revealed that the move was planned before the Champions League final. Inzaghi left Inter shortly after their significant 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, with his new role at Al-Hilal announced soon after.

Inzaghi's tenure at Inter was marked by an impressive win rate, the highest in the club's history since Serie A began in 1929-30. He secured victories in 65% of matches, surpassing notable coaches like Aldo Olivieri, Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho, and Luigi Simoni. Despite this success, Esteve Calzada from Al-Hilal confirmed that Inzaghi's move had been in progress for some time.

Inzaghi's Commitment to Inter Before Al-Hilal

"It might look like it's something that came quickly, but it's the result of hard work," Calzada shared with BBC Sport. He explained that Inzaghi requested to delay any announcements until after the final match out of respect. The decision had been made but not officially signed before the final.

Italian media speculated whether Inter's players were aware of Inzaghi's impending departure and if it influenced their performance in the final. During his four-year stint at Inter, Inzaghi won a Serie A title, two Coppa Italia trophies, and three Supercoppa Italiana titles. However, they ended the 2024-25 season without any trophies despite being contenders for a treble earlier on.

The 49-year-old coach emphasized his unwavering dedication to Inter throughout his tenure. "I heard - or heard about - all sorts of things, as has often happened during the four years I was at Inter," Inzaghi told reporters. He acknowledged that while there were challenges and criticisms, he cherished his time at the club.

Inzaghi expressed gratitude for the support he received from everyone associated with Inter Milan. "If this was the price to pay for my four years at Inter, I'll gladly pay it," he stated. He appreciated the positive experiences and relationships formed during his time there.

Despite facing accusations over those years, Inzaghi remained content with his contributions and experiences at Inter Milan. "But it's nothing compared to the good I received from the entire Inter world - I mean the fans, the management, the players, everyone at Inter," he added.

As Inzaghi moves forward with Al-Hilal, he acknowledges missing various aspects of his previous role at Inter Milan. "I know I'll miss it - I'll miss everything, even this - even the most unfair accusations that were made over these four years," he reflected.
