
Manchester United hope to build on the improvements made under Erik ten Hag and some contract extensions are going to be a part of their strategy for the progression.
The Red Devils have seen significant improvements from some of the key players who were once deemed surplus to requirements.
At the start of the season, the new Dutch manager hinted that no new contract offers will be made till he assessed the squad.
Now after more than six months in charge, Ten Hag reportedly now has got a clear idea of his players and subsequently has informed the management to offer new deals to five players at least.
United exercised their option of an additional year contract extension with David de Gea, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw, Fred, and Marcus Rashford whose contracts were set to end next summer. All of them now have been tied up with a one-year extension. But if rumours are to be believed United are ready to hand all of them new deals to secure their future further.
David De Gea has already confirmed the news and suggested that he is ready to continue his stay at Old Trafford. United are expected to sign a new keeper next summer however are also willing to keep the Spaniard. The number one however is expected to be tied upon with a lesser package.
In-form Marcus Rashford is also expected to get a new deal following his blistering display this season. The 25-year-old has regained his form after two gruelling seasons. Overall he has recorded 16 goals and six assists in 26 games which are immense compared to his five goals last season.
A year after a dire situation at the club many questioned the Englishman’s skills and whether he had the stature to play for United or for a top Premier League club. Even in the summer, there were rumors that Rashford may leave Old Trafford, with sources claiming that PSG were interested in the youngster. However, from the beginning, the new Erik Ten Hag put his trust in the youngster and now is probable to be given a new deal.
Luke Shaw also has managed to impress Ten Hag and has been a pillar for the Red Devils both as a left-back and center-back. He is also probable to get a new deal. Fred despite his limited appearance could also get a new contract. Another new agreement that is on the line is believed to be of Alejandro Garnacho's. Now a first-team regular the 18-year-old has been already offered a new deal, much improved from his current £7,000 per week.
