Arne Slot has observed patterns in the goals Liverpool have conceded this season, but he does not attribute them to Trent Alexander-Arnold. The right-back faced criticism after Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League. During that match, Alexander-Arnold's misplaced pass led to Lisandro Martinez scoring the opening goal.
Despite Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah putting Liverpool ahead, Amad Diallo equalised late in the game. Manchester United focused their attacks down Liverpool's right side, with 54.6% of their offensive plays coming from that direction. This trend is consistent with other teams targeting Alexander-Arnold's defensive side.

Liverpool's opponents have concentrated 44% of their touches in the left third of attacking areas, which corresponds to Liverpool's right side. This is the highest ratio in the Premier League. Additionally, 35.7% of opposition chances come from Liverpool's right, compared to 38.1% from the middle and 26.2% from the left.
Slot stated, "I do see a certain pattern in the goals we concede, but I don't see the pattern if it is about Trent. Not at all." He emphasised that Alexander-Arnold has mostly performed well this season, despite some challenging games.
In a recent EFL Cup match against Tottenham, Alexander-Arnold came on as a substitute during Liverpool's 1-0 defeat. Despite playing only from the 60th minute onward, he made 19 passes into the final third, second only to Ryan Gravenberch’s 21 passes.
Alexander-Arnold nearly put Liverpool ahead with a powerful shot cleared off the line by Radu Dragusin before Lucas Bergvall scored for Tottenham. Slot remarked on the attention Alexander-Arnold receives but praised his performance and fan support during his appearance against Tottenham.
"I know there is a lot of focus on him at the moment," Slot said, "but I would also like to highlight the focus on how well he did when he came on in the last half hour [against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday] and how our fans reacted to him. That is what pleased me even more during that game," Slot concluded.
