Liverpool's head coach, Arne Slot, has been handed a two-match touchline suspension by the FA. This follows his red card after the 2-2 draw against Everton earlier in February. Slot was dismissed for confronting referee Michael Oliver post-match at Goodison Park. He was one of three individuals to receive a red card after the final whistle, alongside Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Slot will miss Liverpool's home fixtures against Newcastle United and Southampton due to this ban. However, he will return to the dugout for the Champions League round of 16 first leg against Paris Saint-Germain. Accepting the charge, Slot also received a fine of £70,000. Assistant coach Sipke Hulshoff faced similar consequences with a two-match ban and a £7,000 fine.

The match saw both Liverpool and Everton fined £65,000 and £50,000 respectively for failing to control their players during heated moments. The tension escalated following James Tarkowski's equaliser in the 98th minute, which led to chaotic scenes at Goodison Park. Liverpool contested the goal, believing it involved a foul on Ibrahima Konate.
Despite being reviewed by VAR, Tarkowski's goal stood. After the match ended, Slot approached an assistant referee before shaking hands with Oliver. This interaction resulted in red cards for both Slot and Hulshoff. Due to his dismissal, Slot couldn't address the media immediately but later expressed frustration over the extended stoppage time beyond the announced five minutes.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions between teams and officials regarding match decisions. Such events often lead to significant fines and suspensions as governing bodies strive to maintain discipline on and off the field.
