Soccer fans release music video praising Maradona in Kolkata

Kolkata, Nov 21 : Football fans in Kolkata, released a music video praising the Argentina soccer great Diego Maradona ahead of his scheduled visit to the city next month.

Sung by Bollywood singer Babul Supriyo, the song highlights the achievements of one of the most gifted footballers in history in an action packed video.

Expressing happiness at the prospect of Maradona's visit, Babul Supriyo, said, "Maradona is our footballing god. We love Maradona more than his own country.

"We are thankful that we are getting a chance to showcase our love for Maradona. He is not going to play, but having him in Kolkata is great thing for us. I would say the stadium was built 25 years back but this is the moment when the stadium would be baptized," he added.

The newly appointed Argentina coach will inaugurate a soccer academy here and participate in a charity dinner where some of his playing gear would be auctioned.

Thousands of fans are expected to attend a public reception planned for the 1986 World Cup-winning captain in the city.

Playing for Argentina Maradona participated in four FIFA World Cup tournaments and earned 91 caps and scored 34 goals.

In the 1986 World Cup, he won the Golden Ball award as the tournament's best player. In that same tournament he scored the spectacular 60-metre weave through six England players, commonly referred to as "The Goal of the Century" which instantly cemented his fame.
