Campbell's visit to Kolkata underscores the growing bond between sports and community initiatives, with the Tata Steel 25K being more than just a race-it's a platform that unites people from diverse backgrounds for fitness and social causes.

Speaking about his role, Campbell expressed excitement about engaging with the city's passionate sports enthusiasts and promoting the spirit of wellness and perseverance that the event embodies.

"Coming back to the City of Joy is a huge pleasure. Being an Englishman, I know India through cricket, but I have heard that this city is known for its sport loving people. I am excited to be in Kolkata, a sporting city and part of the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata, a race that has united the community and works towards a healthy and active life." said Sol Campbell about his arrival to Kolkata.

"Anyone who loves football has to love running, that is what makes you the best! So I call out to all the football and sports lovers in West Bengal and India to join me at the startline of Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata on Sunday, 15th December 2024," the Arsenal legend added.

The Gunners legend was warmly welcomed at the Kolkata Airport on Wednesday evening. Arsenal Bengal Supporters' Club, Arsenal's official fan club in the City of Joy, was present to welcome the legendary player. The '49, 49 undefeated' chant was in full voice from the Gooners in Kolkata and Sol was also extremely gracious as he signed the jerseys with the fans, and posed for pictures with them. The 'Sol to Kol' banner was in full display as the Arsenal fans of the city had their dream moment to meet with the icon. The Invincible star will be spearheading the main race on Sunday (December 15) in Kolkata.
