Dominic Solanke Set For Tottenham Debut In Season Opener Against Leicester

Dominic Solanke has been praised by Ange Postecoglou, who believes the striker is exactly what Tottenham expected when they signed him from Bournemouth. Spurs spent a club-record fee of up to £65 million on Solanke, who netted 19 Premier League goals for Bournemouth last season. Solanke may debut for Tottenham on Monday as they face newly promoted Leicester City.

Steve Cooper, preparing for his first league match with Leicester, confirmed that Patson Daka will be sidelined after an injury against Lens in pre-season. "Patson [Daka] obviously is not great news," Cooper said. "He suffered quite a serious ankle injury last week in the game in Lens and he is going to be out for a good few months. He's having an operation."

Jamie Vardy is also unavailable due to an injury sustained during pre-season training camps. Cooper added: "Vards, similarly, he's been injured since the second week of pre-season now, when we were on one of our pre-season camps. He's closer to returning but it will be a little while, although he's itching to get back."

Leicester City - Stephy Mavididi: Mavididi scored 12 league goals last season, aiding Leicester's promotion push. He also created 72 chances and provided six assists. Only Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, now at Chelsea, created more opportunities (109) for Leicester.

Tottenham - Son Heung-min: Son has contributed to 13 goals in 14 Premier League matches against Leicester (nine goals, four assists). He has scored five and assisted once in his last three games against the Foxes.

Ange Postecoglou expressed satisfaction with Solanke's integration into the team. "Thankfully, it's what we expected," said Postecoglou. "He's a top pro and a good guy—he's settled into the dressing room really well. Football-wise you can see he has all the attributes we need."
