Son Heung-min Confident In Readiness For Europa League Final After Recent Return

Son Heung-min is optimistic about his fitness for the upcoming Europa League final after making a return to the starting line-up. Despite Tottenham's challenging season, he believes in the team's potential for victory.

Son Heung-min is confident about his readiness for the Europa League final on Wednesday. After a month-long absence, he returned to Tottenham's starting line-up in their 2-0 loss to Aston Villa. This defeat marked Spurs' 25th loss of the season, equalling their record from the 1991-92 season. Son's return was his first start since the Europa League quarter-final against Eintracht Frankfurt on April 10.

Having played 74 minutes against Aston Villa, Son is building his fitness for the upcoming match against Manchester United. "I'm feeling good and ready to go," he told SpursPlay. "It was really good to get game time in my legs. I will be ready for Wednesday." Watching from the sidelines has been tough for him, but he praised his teammates' performances in previous rounds.

Despite their struggles, Son expressed joy at seeing his teammates celebrate their victories in earlier rounds. "I was very happy to see them celebrating, which they deserve," he said. "The job is not finished. I believe we can do this." He emphasised the importance of unity and having a shared goal among the team members.

Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham's head coach, noted Son's progress and readiness for the final. "It was important tonight, and he feels like he is getting back to some rhythm," Postecoglou told Sky Sports. "It gives him a good opportunity to be at his best in the final." A win in the Europa League would be a significant achievement for Spurs after a challenging season.

Currently sitting 17th in the Premier League with one game left, Spurs have endured a difficult campaign. They have lost eight of their last 11 league matches and managed only one shot on target against Aston Villa. Postecoglou acknowledged the team's effort but noted that belief waned after conceding a goal.

"I thought up until they scored, the boys worked hard, they were really disciplined and organised," Postecoglou added. "We didn't really let them create too many openings." However, fatigue set in as many players lacked match fitness, leading to a loss of momentum as the game progressed.

The upcoming Europa League final presents an opportunity for redemption amid a turbulent season for Tottenham Hotspur. With Son Heung-min back in action and determined to make an impact, Spurs aim to end their season on a high note by securing European silverware.
