On the way to the Final two giants of European football, Spain and France will face each other in the first semi-final of Euro 2024 at the Munich Football Arena (Allianz Arena), in Munich, Germany on Tuesday (July 9).
On their way to the semifinals, La Roja is the only semi-finalist who won all their previous matches of this tournament and eliminated the host Germany by a 2-1 victory in Stuttgart. On the other hand, France beat Portugal in a highly tense penalty shootout.

Spain is the only team in this Euro who have won all five matches so far. They are also joint-top in number of goals (11) and total attempts (102). On the other hand, France for the first time reached the semifinal without scoring a goal from open play. Of the three goals France scored in this Euro, two came from deflections and one from a penalty. Contrary to these lacklustre attacking numbers, Les Bleus put up a strong defensive display and maintained four clean sheets in five matches.

Few changes are expected in the playing XI from Luis De La Fuente, as the seasoned right-back Daniel Carvajal and Robin Le Normand will miss the game due to suspension. Barcelona youngster Pedri also left the field in tears against Germany due to a ligament injury.
Nacho and Navas are the expected replacements in defence, and in midfield, Dani Olmo should be the natural alternative in place of Pedri after his brilliant performance in the last match. The Spanish midfield trio of Olmo, Rodri and Ruiz is the key to this successful run of La Roja in Euro 2024. On the frontlines, Alvaro Morata will be aided by Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams.
Didier Deschamps will have the full squad at his disposal against Spain. No player is missing out due to a suspension or injury. Adrien Rabiot will be back on the squad. The only concern would be the nose injury to Mbappe, who had to be forced off before the penalty shootout against Portugal. His form will also be an issue, as the Real Madrid star has yet to score a goal from open play in Euro 2024.
Maignan in the goal has been exceptional in the penalty shootout. The defence line-up is expected to remain unchanged, though Camavinga can start the match ahead of Rabiot. Saliba, Upamecano, Kounde and Hernandez all been brilliant throughout the tournament. But it is high time for the French attack to rise from this slumber against this highly attacking Spanish side.
Spain: Unai Simon; Jesus Navas, Nacho Fernandez, Aymeric Laporte, Marc Cucurella; Dani Olmo, Rodri, Fabian Ruiz; Lamine Yamal, Alvaro Morata, Nico Williams
France: Mike Maignan; Theo Hernandez, William Saliba, Dayot Upamecano, Jules Kounde; Adrien Rabiot, Aurelien Tchouameni, N'Golo Kante; Antonie Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe, Randal Kolo Muani
Given the recent form, it can be quite difficult for Les Bleus to grab a victory against this Spanish side. A battle between a formidable Spanish attack and a solid defensive wall of France can be expected from this clash.
Our Prediction:
Spain 2:1 France
