Spinazzola Napoli Contract Extension To 2028 Keeps Veteran Wing Back At The Club
Leonardo Spinazzola has committed his future to Napoli by signing a new deal running until June 2028, ending speculation about a free transfer departure and arriving on the same day Massimiliano Allegri is widely expected to move closer to taking charge of the club.
Spinazzola joined Napoli from Roma on a free transfer in 2024 and has since played 72 matches in all competitions, contributing four goals and six assists, winning Serie A and the Supercoppa Italiana, although injuries reduced appearances despite starting 30 of 42 games under Antonio Conte last season.

The club confirmed the agreement in an official communication that read: "SSC Napoli is happy to announce that Leonardo Spinazzola's contract with the club has been extended until 30 June 2028, the Serie A giants said in a statement." Spinazzola, now 33, therefore remains with the Partenopei for two more seasons.
Spinazzola made a first competitive appearance for Napoli on 10 August 2024 in a Coppa Italia tie against Modena, and across his 72 matches has helped the Azzurri secure a fourth league crown and one Italian Super Cup, underlining why the club moved to secure this latest contract extension.
| Player | Club | Contract end | Total appearances | Goals | Assists | Major trophies with Napoli |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leonardo Spinazzola | Napoli | 30 June 2028 | 72 | 4 | 6 | 1 Serie A title, 1 Supercoppa Italiana |
While Spinazzola extends, attention also turns to the coaching position, with Massimiliano Allegri expected to terminate a current AC Milan contract, after being dismissed at the end of last season following failure to qualify for the Champions League and replaced earlier this month by Ruben Amorim.
The Italian coach still needs to finalise an exit package with Milan before any move, yet reports suggest Napoli and Allegri already have a broad agreement in place, with the 58-year-old likely to accept a two-year contract, which would align Spinazzola’s new deal with the upcoming technical project.
Conte departed Napoli by mutual consent at the end of last season after finishing second behind Inter in Serie A and going out of the Champions League at the first stage, and Spinazzola’s decision to stay gives the squad continuity as the club prepares for Allegri’s potential arrival and another domestic title challenge.
