By Staff

New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) Eduardo Da Silva struck a brace as title contenders JCT thrashed Tata Football Academy 3-1 while Sporting Clube De Goa pipped Air India in an exciting encounter in the quarterfinals of the 121st Osian's Durand Cup here today.

JCT, who had beaten Sporting Clube 3-1 in their opening tie, now lead the table with six points from two matches. Air India and Sporting Clube are on three points each from their two outings while defending champions Churchill Brothers have the same number of points from the one match they have played so far.

The match between Sporting Clube and Air India was an exciting one with both teams proving equal to the other in all departments.

Both teams started in an attacking mode and both had their fair share of scoring chances.

Soccor Velho could have put Air India ahead in the 10th minute but his header off a cross from Ravinder Singh sailed just wide of the goal.

The Goans responded in kind a few minutes later when a through pass from Bashiru Abbas found an unmarked Lavindo Fernandes who shot wide from close range.
