Spurs defender Kevin Wimmer to move to West Brom

Spurs defender Kevin Wimmer to move to West Brom

London, Aug 19: Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer is in talks over a £15 million move to West Bromwich Albion, according to reports.

Spurs have recently broken their record transfer fee to sign highly-rated Ajax centre-back Davinson Sanchez yesterday and this move will reportedly free up Kevin Wimmer to leave Tottenham and join West Brom.

The Austrian could appear at the Hawthorns as a potential replacement for Jonny Evans, who has emerged as a shock target for Premier League giants Manchester City.

Wimmer arrived at White Hart Lane from German club FC Koln in the summer of 2015 with a lot of hope, however, failed to make a mark under Mauricio Pochettino.

He just turned out just 31 times over the past two seasons for the north Londoners and made just 10 appearances under Mauricio Pochettino the last term, four of which came in the club's domestic cup runs.

And after Sanchez's arrival, the defender would now see himself more below in the pecking order behind Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Sanchez which mostly prompted him to change the club.

Wimmer had been linked with Stoke and Crystal Palace earlier but recent reports have now suggested that veteran Tony Pulis has finally shown upper hand in the race and could make him Albion's fourth summer signing after Jay Rodriguez, Ahmed Hegazi and Gareth Barry.

The price for the defender could be around £20 million after various installments and the Austrian will reportedly sign a three-year contract with the club.
