Spurs set to make shock offer for Liverpool star

New Delhi, Aug 27: Reports from Saturday (August 26) claimed that Liverpool could be letting young Belgian forward Divock Origi move away from Anfield this summer and Spurs are rumoured to be interested in the 22-year-old as a backup for Harry Kane.

Vincent Janssen was signed from Dutch side AZ last season but the Dutchman failed to make his mark in the Premier League and Pochettino is looking to sell the former Eredivisie top scorer. Origi is being eyed as a potential replacement for the outgoing striker.

The Belgian striker has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield this season, failing to make the matchday squad for Wednesday's win over Hoffenheim which saw the Reds seal their place in the Champions League group stage.

Origi is keen to ensure he plays regular football this season to ensure he makes it to the World Cup next summer.

With Robert Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Dominic Solanke all being preferred to Origi by Klopp so far this season, he may find first-team minutes hard to come by at Anfield. Also, Danny Ings is about to make his comeback from a lengthy spell on the sidelines which could worsen his situation.

Liverpool have indicated they may be prepared to let him leave before the transfer window shuts on Thursday night if they can complete the other business they are looking to do.

Marseille have also shown an interest in Origi, while Anderlecht would be interested in taking him back to Belgium on loan.

After signing for Liverpool from Lille for £10 million, Origi has scored 12 goals in only 21 Premier League starts and last season netted in five successive appearances in all competitions during November and December.

Klopp has always spoken positively about Origi and would ideally like to keep him in his squad for Liverpool's Premier League and Champions League campaigns this season.

But there is also an acceptance within the club that Origi should be rewarded for patiently waiting for first-team chances.
