Oriental Cup 2025: St. Francis Teams Excel On Day 3 With Victories In Both Categories

On Day 3 of the Oriental Cup 2025, St. Francis De Sales School achieved significant victories in both boys' and girls' categories, showcasing their football prowess amidst challenging matches.

New Delhi, July 23: Day 3 of the Oriental Cup 2025, held at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, showcased thrilling football action despite a delayed start due to morning rain. St. Francis De Sales Senior Secondary School, Janakpuri, dominated both boys' and girls' categories with decisive victories.

The boys' teams from The Mother’s International School and Amity International (Noida) also advanced after winning penalty shootouts. Meanwhile, Heritage Global School and New Green Field School secured hard-fought wins in the boys' category.

St Francis Teams Shine at Oriental Cup 2025

The girls from St. Francis De Sales Sr. Sec. School began their day with a confident 2-0 victory over Navy Children School, thanks to Jiya Verma's two goals. Their boys' team followed with a narrow 1-0 win against DAV Faridabad, with Yuvraj Marwah scoring the decisive goal.

New Green Field School's boys, led by coach Rohit Yadav, triumphed over Venkateshwar International School in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw in regular time, winning 3-1. In another close match, Heritage Global School from Faridabad secured a 1-0 victory against Gov. Sarvodaya Co-ed Vidyalaya, Shahpur Jaat, with Javed Akhtar scoring the winning goal.

The second round of boys' matches brought more excitement as The Mother’s International School advanced after a tense encounter against Sanskriti School. The match ended 1-1 in regular time with goals from Daivik Bejgotra (MIS) and Mannan Machhan (Sanskriti). MIS won the shootout 2-0 with successful penalties by Amogh Shandilya and Dhruv Tuli.

In Group A of the girls' category, both matches ended in goalless draws. Defending champions Sanskriti School faced The Mother’s International School in a tight contest without breaking the deadlock. Similarly, Amity International (Noida) and Tagore International School shared points after a balanced 0-0 finish.

Another dramatic knockout match saw Amity International School (Noida), coached by Utkarsh Tyagi, defeat The Air Force School from Subroto Park on penalties. Regular time ended 1-1 with Arnav Kumar scoring for Amity and Aarav Bagga for Air Force. In the shootout, Arnav Kumar and Avigya Kunwar scored to secure Amity's place in the next round.

The Oriental Cup is gaining recognition from the Delhi Soccer Association for its contribution to grassroots football development. Supported by Oriental Structural Engineers Pvt.Ltd., Central Park Estates, Ocean Beverages, and Nivia Sports as sponsors and partners respectively, the tournament is becoming an important event on Delhi's school sports calendar.

Day 4 promises more action with seven matches scheduled, including second-round encounters in the boys’ category and crucial group stage fixtures for the girls’ teams.
