Bengaluru, February 6: BT Sport pundit Steven Gerrard has praised Henrikh Mkhitaryan for his impressive home debut for Arsenal in the Premier League against Everton on Saturday (February 3).
The Armenia international started his first game for the Gunners at The Emirates since completing his move to the north London club from Manchester United back in January.
Mkhitaryan was in fine form for the Gunners as they ran riot and claimed a thumping 5-1 victory over the Toffees, with the playmaker grabbing the headlines with three assists.
A hat-trick from sklipper Aaron Ramsey and goals from Laurent Koscielny and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wrapped up the three points for Arsene Wenger’s men.
Former Liverpool and England captain was thoroughly impressed by what he saw from Mkhitaryan as he hit the ground running following his move from Manchester United.
Speaking during BT Sport's coverage of the game, Gerrard said: “It was the perfect home debut. Mkhitaryan got three assists and I thought he was sensational today.
“His clever movements, his vision… but he was fighting for the cause as well.
“They were exhilarating going forward and the caused Everton problems all day long. It’s what Arsenal are all about.”
Arsenal have an important game against their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the next weekend and the Gunners will be looking to win the game at all costs to keep their top four hopes alive.
With the form they showed against Everton, the Gunners breaking in the top-four by the end of the season is not at all impossible.
