Petar Sucic, a recent addition to Inter, expressed his excitement about potentially facing Luka Modric in a Milan derby next season. Sucic joined Inter in early June and has already participated in four matches at the Club World Cup. He contributed his first assist during their 2-0 victory over River Plate in the group stage.
Last week, AC Milan's sporting director, Igli Tare, revealed that the club is negotiating with Modric for a potential transfer. Tare mentioned that they envision Modric taking on a crucial leadership role within the team. Modric announced his departure from Real Madrid after the Club World Cup, ending a 13-year tenure with the club.

During his time at Real Madrid, Modric made 593 appearances across all competitions. He scored 43 goals and provided 95 assists. Last season, despite reduced playing time of 2,863 minutes, he created 99 chances, second only to Vinicius Junior's 101 for Los Blancos. In LaLiga alone, Modric set up 66 chances, surpassing all his teammates except four players in the league.
While no formal agreement has been reached between Milan and Modric yet, Sucic is eager for a potential Serie A encounter with his fellow Croatian next season. "At Inter, I aim to challenge myself to a new level on multiple fronts," Sucic told Repubblica. "So let him [Modric] sign. I won't call him until that moment."
Sucic shared how he admired Modric's football over the past decade and would find it thrilling to play against him. "Playing against him would be fantastic," he said. Despite not having posters of anyone growing up, Sucic studied players like Modric, Andres Iniesta, Xavi, and Sergio Busquets. He appreciated Arsenal's style but aims to forge his own path without imitating others.
As Modric's exit from Real Madrid approaches with the Club World Cup entering its knockout stages, anticipation builds around his next move. The prospect of seeing him in Serie A adds excitement for fans and players alike.
