Sunderland halted Burnley's winning streak in the 2024-25 Championship season with a 1-0 victory at the Stadium of Light. West Brom defeated Stoke City 2-1, with Karlan Grant and Josh Maja scoring either side of Lewis Koumas's equaliser. Tom Fellows assisted both West Brom goals at the Bet365 Stadium.Blackburn Rovers also won 2-1 against Oxford United, thanks to substitute Arnor Sigurdsson's late goal. Joe Rankin-Costello had earlier levelled the score after Mark Harris's brilliant opener.Tommy Conway's last-minute penalty earned Middlesbrough a 2-2 draw against Portsmouth at the Riverside, denying Portsmouth their first win of the season. Norwich City and Sheffield United played out a 1-1 draw, while Preston North End beat Luton Town 1-0 in Paul Heckingbottom's debut as manager.
