Swansea City target Liverpool outcast Markovic

The Reds are considering to cut losses on the Serbian Markovic and have reportedly given the nod as Swansea are ready to offer him a fresh start.

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic

Bengaluru, January 30: Relegation-threatened Swansea City have reportedly enquired about a potential loan or permanent move for Liverpool outcast Lazar Markovic, according to reports.

Markovic moved to Anfield in 2014 under Rodgers however since then has failed to maintain a squad role and has been sent on three loan spells to Fenerbahce, Sporting and Hull.

The 23-year-old has been completely deemed surplus of requirements by Klopp and is yet to make an appearance this season.

The Reds are considering to cut losses on the Serbian and have reportedly given the nod as Swansea are ready to offer him a fresh start. Apart from the Swans, Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow have also been linked with Markovic.

The Reds want a permanent deal for the player but all three clubs are eager to land him only on a loan deal. However, with just two days left for the deadline, the Merseyside side could also sell the player at a cut-rate price to write him off the books.

Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal also has openly said that his team is fighting to bring in players during this window when he was asked about Markovic's arrival, however, did not confirm the approach for Markovic.

"He is one more name to add to the 37 we have talked about since the beginning of the transfer window," he said.

On the other hand, Swansea are also on the verge of selling their midfielder Roque Mesa who joined the Swans for £11m from Las Palmas in the summer just after six months.

The player is understood to be in Spain close to a loan move to Sevilla and the Swansea boss confirmed it by admitting that the player is not currently training in Wales.

"Its official he is not here, but its not official whether he leaves or stays," he said.

Swansea have seen their tides turn a little bit after the recent arrival of manager Carvahal who joined the team in last week of December.

The Swans are currently at the bottom of the Premier league table with only 20 points, three points adrift of relegation but have lost only once in their last seven games as they continue to fight for their survival and should Markovic join them, it will surely make their squad more solid.
