Bengaluru, December 12: Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-yueng will put contract talks on hold to focus on the club’s fight to stay in the top flight of English football.

The South Korean international is a free agent in the summer and can sign a pre-contract with an overseas club in January and there is plenty of interest for the 28-year-old midfielder.

However, the former Sunderland star is happy to wait to until the Welsh club have secured Premier League football next season to continue talks about his future.

The playmaker was outstanding in the Swans vital win at the Liberty Stadium against West Brom on Saturday (December 9), their first win for two months.

Ki said: “We have not talked with the club, we just want to focus on these games.

“If we are out of the relegation trouble then maybe it will be a better time to talk.

“In the club the concentration has to be on these games and it is the same for me.

“I am relaxed about my situation and I will work as hard as I can to help this team.”

Ivorian international Wilfried Bony was the captain for the day and scored the only goal of the game against the Baggies to lift Paul Clement’s side off the bottom of the table.

Ki added: “It was a big moment from a big player, he is the captain and a big leader for this team.”

The Swans face the gangantuan task of taking on Manchester City on Wednesday (December 13).

Pep Guaridiola’s side who beat bitter rivals Manchester United on Sunday (December 10) are looking for their 15th consecutive league win.

Ki Sung-yueng has attracted interest from the likes of Spanish giants Valencia and Sevilla as well as Italian sides like Milan and Fiorentina.

There is interest from other Premier League clubs as well as the fans will be happy to see that their star player is not going anywhere and is only concentrating on how to drag the club out of danger.
