Sydney Lohmann is thrilled to be playing football in England, especially after the Lionesses' Euro 2025 victory. Sarina Wiegman's team defended their title in Switzerland, defeating Spain on penalties in the final. This win made England the first nation since Germany to retain the women's Euros, a feat Germany achieved six times from 1995 to 2013.

Lohmann joined Manchester City on a three-year contract from Bayern Munich in July. She spent eight seasons in the Frauen-Bundesliga, making 80 appearances and scoring 19 goals with 15 assists. Her move comes as she aims to help City recover from a disappointing season that saw them miss out on European competition.

The excitement surrounding football in England is palpable, according to Lohmann. "I can't imagine a better time [to play in England] than now," she told BBC Sport. The enthusiasm for both men's and women's football is evident, particularly in Manchester, where the atmosphere is unique.
