90+1' Samuel Silvera misses a golden opportunity to make it 2-0 for his side as he skies a first-time effort over the crossbar from right in front of the six-yard box. Six minutes of stoppage time added!
87' It's slipping away from the Syrians as Australians have increased numbers in defense, crowding the box with bodies and physicality. It's looking difficult for Syria to penetrate. Syrian players' body language is suggesting the same! SYR 0-1 AUS
83' Omar Khribin shoots over the crossbar for Syria following an indirect freekick! The Syrian forward asks for a handball right after but the linesman has raised the flag for an offside instead! SYR 0-1 AUS

The second half is all set to begin as players are back on the field!
Youngster Ammar Ramadan put in a brilliant shift on the left wing. Helping out Ajan double up to guard the flank against the Aussies. He also used his pace to troubled the Aussie defense and came close to scoring as the game progressed. His effort, however went into the side net!
Coach Graham Arnold won't be happy with the way his team went about the first half. The started on strong foot and pushed Syrians early on but as the game progressed, they started losing intensity, allowing their rivals to grow in confidence and push them up the field.
However, there's one positive to take for the Australians. They looked threatening on the set-pieces with Syrians too busy blocking the two tall defenders! Aussies may have to put in a professional shift to get this done

Australia are looking to book an early ticket to the knockout stages as they take on Syria in their second Grup B game at the Jassim Bin Ahmad Stadium in Doha on Thursday (January 18). World No. 25 Australia come into the game defeating a stubborn India 2-0 in their opening match of the AFC Asian Cup 2023. For World No 94 Syria, the match is toughest of all their Group B encounter.
Syria's defense could be hard to break too as the war-torn nation managed to escape defeat in their first AFC Asian Cup group encounter for the third time this century, winning their opening game of the competition back-to-back. Renowned tactician Hector Cuper's team was incredibly well-organized against Uzbekistan, limiting them to only two shots on goal while controlling 34% of the possession.
Even though they have won all three of their games this year, this side has only triumphed in one Asian Cup match in the twenty-first century-they surprised Saudi Arabia 2-1 in their opening game in 2011. Syria is anticipated to compete this time around despite never having advanced past the tournament's group round.
Despite their favorable first-leg result, Australian manager Graham Arnold was not pleased with his team's performance, with the Socceroos seeming uncoordinated and overly enthusiastic in the first forty-five minutes.
Arnold has promised that his team would show even more development in this match. The Australians are already enjoying a winning streak of five games in all competitions without giving up a goal during that time.
Australia has won its last three Asian Cup group matches, scoring several goals in each victory. In the event of a win plus a draw or victory by India on the second matchday, the Australians would advance to the next round for the fifth time in a row.
