Former Real Madrid prodigy signs new deal at current club

Former Real Madrid prodigy Takefusa Kubo has extended his contract with his current club Real Sociedad in a long-term deal.

Real Sociedad announced that the Japanese player has reached an agreement to extend the contract until the end of the 2028-29 season, thus penning a new five-year-long deal.

"I am very happy to renew with this great club that has welcomed me so well. I am very happy here. I have a great feeling with my teammates, with the fans, and with the sporting management. It is important for a club that a young player grows because that way the club also grows. We have to move forward hand-in-hand. What is good for me is good for the club and what is good for the club is good for me," Kubo said after committing his future at the club.

The 22-year-old joined the Basque country club in the summer of 2022 following his underwhelming stint in Madrid. Kubo didn't play a solitary match for Los Blancos and was loaned to several clubs like Mallorca, Villarreal and Getafe.

At Sociedad, he has proved to be a pivotal player, scoring 16 goals in 73 matches already. The youngster has already netted 7 goals and has 3 assists in 20 La Liga matches this season.
