Tamworth's manager, Andy Peaks, expressed immense pride after his team nearly pulled off a significant upset against Tottenham in the FA Cup. The non-league side, currently 16th in the National League, held their own for 101 minutes against the Premier League team. Tottenham fielded stars like James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, and Timo Werner, later bringing on Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-min.
Despite Tamworth's valiant efforts, Nathan Tshikuna's own goal broke the deadlock 11 minutes into extra time. Kulusevski and Johnson then added goals to secure Tottenham's victory. Tamworth became only the fourth non-league team to push a Premier League club to extra time in the FA Cup since 1992-93. Previous teams achieving this feat include Hereford United, Dagenham and Redbridge, and Kidderminster Harriers.

In a dramatic finish, Thomas McGlinchey and Jordan Cullinane-Liburd were denied by last-minute blocks during stoppage time of the second half. "We're disappointed because we were that close to causing a massive upset," Peaks told ITV Sport. "But equally we're massively proud." He praised his team's performance against such formidable opponents.
Peaks highlighted how everyone gave their all on the pitch. "Everyone put a shift in and when you look at the team we were up against, it was unbelievable from our boys," he said. "I am so proud of them." He noted that they had chances and stayed competitive until the very end.
The Football Association's decision to eliminate replays this season meant Tamworth missed out on a trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, Peaks believed playing at their home ground gave them an edge. "To get a home draw was better," he stated. The artificial pitch at Lamb Ground offered them their best shot at victory.
Peaks appreciated Tottenham's respect towards his team by fielding such a strong lineup. "They have been so respectful and to bring a team like that says a lot," he remarked. Despite missing out on advancing further in the cup, Peaks remained proud of what his team accomplished.
The match showcased Tamworth's determination and skill against top-tier competition. While they fell short of making history by eliminating a Premier League side from the cup, their performance left a lasting impression on fans and players alike.
